What is a Lebanese Loop?
It is an attempt to block the ATM by using an external object/device that prevents the card that has been inserted into an ATM from being released back to its owner. Thus the fraudster gets access to the card when the cardholder leaves.
What you can do to protect yourself from a Lebanese Loop?
- Stay alert, look for suspicious objects like hidden cameras, unusual looking keypad or any other suspicious object fitted in the card slot.
- Check for suspicious transactions and notify your bank as quickly as possible.
- Monitor your bank account transactions frequently.
