KMRL Axis Bank ‘Kochi1’ Card - Balance Management

The KMRL Axis Bank ‘Kochi1’ Card balances can be described as follows:

  • Total Balance – The total money loaded on to your Card after deduction of any fees and charges applicable.
  • Card Balance – The balance kept aside for your tap and pay transactions at the Metro gates. Current Card balance limit has been set to Rs.2000 to comply with RBI regulations allowing offline transactions of only up to Rs.2000 in a transaction.
  • e-Balance – The balance available over the above the Card balance kept aside for your ticketing at the metro gates. e-Balance = Total Balance – Card Balance

Reason for bifurcation of Total Balance:

  • Card Balance – to ensure only a limited amount is available on your Card for offline balances. This is to secure the remaining amount in your Total balance and limit the exposure to any fraudulent transactions in case the Card is lost
  • E-Balance  – to allow you to use your money even when the card is not present, for eg: for online shopping to make payments for the QR ticket on the Kochi1 App
