The Axis Bank India Travel Card is a prepaid rupee denominated Travel Card. It is a VISA card.
As per the RBI guidelines, India Travel Card can be issued only to Foreign Nationals and Non Resident Indians (NRIs)
No! This card is an 'over the counter' product and can be bought from Axis Bank branches or any of our partner Money Changers against the encashment of Foreign Currency Notes/Traveller's Cheques.
No, as per RBI guidelines this card can be used only in India.
Simply submit a copy of your passport and Indian visa to your nearest Axis Bank Branch or Money Changer along with the application form.
  • Card Issuance Fee: Rs. 150 (inclusive of taxes)
No the Card can’t be reloaded. It is a non-reloadable card.
An individual can hold only a single Axis Bank India Travel Card and will not be issued multiple cards. Nevertheless, each adult in the family can carry their own Axis Bank India Travel Cards.
The card can be loaded instantly, once you give the Foreign Currency Notes/Travellers Cheques for encashment to the Axis Bank branch or Money Changer. However, in order to avoid any inconvenience please ask the sales person for the tentative time from when you can use the card. You are also advised to ensure that you have received the PIN and sign on the signature panel at the back of the card before you use it. It is also advisable to change the PIN and check the balance on the card at the nearest ATM to avoid any future inconveniences.
As per RBI guidelines, you can load maximum upto Rs. 2,00,000 on your India Travel Card
Yes, you can swipe your Axis Bank India Travel Card at any VISA enabled merchant establishments.
The PIN is required to process transactions done through swiping your card at merchant establishments
Authorization for such a transaction is done by entering PIN on the terminal.
Transactions at such a machine are not valid transactions and will be declined as they operate in an offline mode and the transactions do not get routed to the online systems.
There is no daily transaction limit to which the card can be used at a merchant establishment. However the card can only be used till the time all the balance on it is exhausted.
To withdraw cash, you would need to insert your card into any Visa enabled ATM machine in India and follow the instructions on screen. Enter your PIN and indicate the amount you want to withdraw in Indian Rupees (INR). The requisitioned cash will be dispensed in INR by the ATM.
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique 4 digit secure number assigned to your card and known only to you. It allows you to withdraw cash from VISA ATMs worldwide. This PIN can be changed (only) at any Axis Bank ATM in India.
All ATMs in India displaying the Visa or Plus symbol will accept your Axis Bank India Travel Card.
There are over 80,000 VISA ATMs in India. For a comprehensive list of all ATMs look up the location of VISA accepting ATMs on their website http://www.visa.com or http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/global and click on the ATM locator. Unless you are travelling to a very remote place, it is very unlikely that you won't be able to find a VISA ATM.

Yes, there will be fee levied for each cash withdrawal:

  • At Axis Bank ATMs - Rs. 25
  • At Non-Axis Bank (Other Bank) ATMs - Rs.60
  • Balance inquiry - Rs 12

  • These charges are inclusive of taxes
Most of the VISA ATMs have the capability of displaying the amount withdrawn and balance available in Indian Rupees.
The card gets blocked for use at ATMs, if the card has been used with the wrong ATM PIN more than 3 times. This is for your own security and to prevent any fraudulent use on the card. If you have forgotten your PIN, you may write to travel.currency@axisbank.com for generation of a new PIN.
Most of the VISA ATMs display information in English and Hindi.
You can call the 24-hour helpline 91-40-67069800 or send an email to travel.currency@axisbank.com to report a lost or stolen card. Our Customer Service executives will immediately block the lost card and prevent it from further use. You can visit any of the nearest Axis Bank branch for a replacement card. After necessary customer identification, the Branch official will arrange to issue the replacement card.
In this case, you are requested to provide the details of the transaction to us via email at travel.currency@axisbank.com and we'll look into the matter.
The easiest way is to cash out your card. You can visit nearest Axis Bank branch or designated FFMC who has sold the card and get the remaining amount encashed within a period of 2 years from the date of production of the card. In case you apply for refund after the time period of 2 years, you need to apply for repatriation of the balances to the Regional Office of the RBI, through the Bank. All available amounts on the card not claimed/encashed within 3 months after the date of expiry of validity as printed in the card shall lapse to the bank.
Yes, you can track the balance and statement of account online. For that, you need to login to the Axis Bank website at www.axisbank.com.
Please go to the Internet Banking module, select “Prepaid Card” from the drop down menu and click on “Login”. The system will ask to input your login ID and password. Your Card Number is the login ID and the internet banking password is available in your welcome kit.
  • You should look for the VISA sign at the point-of-sale merchant establishment.
  • The Merchant must have an electronic point of sale card swiping terminal.
  • You should present your India Travel Card only after making purchase.
  • Keep the card in your sight at all times.
  • PIN is required for POS transactions.
  • After a successful authorization, a hold for the transacted amount will first be placed on your card. Subsequently, your card balance will be debited for the transacted amount.
  • Ensure your card is returned to you.
  • Please note that this card can be used only for online transactions.
  • Any transaction, which is done in an offline mode (Manual Key Entry), would be declined, as it does not get routed to the online systems.
