Prime Minister inaugurates 3 Digital Banking Units of Axis Bank digitally


Axis Bank, India’s third largest private sector bank today announced the opening of 3 Digital Banking Units (DBUs), as part of the Govt of India initiative to launch 75 DBUs in 75 districts across the county. The branches were digitally inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in the presence of local dignitaries and the Bank’s senior leaders.

The DBUs will be instrumental in taking banking services to the rural and semi-urban parts of country.

One of the Axis DBUs will be located at Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh and another two at Bundi and Bhilwara districts in Rajasthan.

The Axis Bank DBU’s have been enabled with digital user interactive devices, self-service infrastructure, internet banking kiosks, passbook printing kiosks, account opening kiosks and will also offer digital applications for Govt. sponsored schemes on National Portal.

To provide a boost to the digital economy and to mark the country’s 75 years of its Independence, the Hon’ble Finance Minister had proposed in the Union Budget setting up of 75 Digital Banking Units (DBUs) by scheduled commercial banks in 75 districts of the country.

Axis Bank will leverage the DBUs’ to reach out to customers, empower them with digital offerings and facilitate services through the Bank’s application. The Bank will educate and encourage customers to increasingly make use of digital modes of payments for daily transactions. These branches will cater to all basic banking transactions and also specific needs of customers, offering a spectrum of banking products and financial services covering retail and institutional lending.
