With the increasing popularity of the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) as a preferred mode of transaction in India, several banks have started integrating their credit card services with UPI payments. This development has enabled credit cardholders to enjoy the convenience of UPI payments and earn rewards and cashback on their transactions.

 

Using a credit card to make UPI payments

In this blog, we will discuss how to use a credit card for UPI payments and the benefits of doing so.

What are UPI payments?

UPI is an instant payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which enables users to transfer money between bank accounts instantly without the need for any bank account details. UPI payments can be made through mobile apps or UPI-enabled banking apps, and they provide a secure and convenient way to transfer funds.

Steps for linking an Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card to a UPI app:

  • Initial setup in UPI app: If you haven't already, begin by downloading a UPI-enabled app (like BHIM, PayTm, or Mobikwik) from your device's respective app store.
  • Verification and registration: Once installed, open the app and proceed to verify your mobile number. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.
  • Adding the Credit Card: After successfully registering, navigate to the option within the app to ‘Link/Add a Credit Card’.
  • Choosing the bank and card: In the Credit Card section, select 'Axis Bank' as your Credit Card provider. Then, choose the specific Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card that you wish to link.
  • UPI PIN setup: If you haven't set up a UPI PIN yet, you will need to do so. Select the 'Generate PIN' option and then choose your Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card.
  • Input card details: Enter the required details of your Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card, including the last six digits and the expiry date.
  • OTP verification: An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the app.
  • Setting the PIN: Finally, create and set a PIN of your choice for the UPI transactions.

Set UPI Pin

  • Select Generate PIN option > Select Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card
  • Enter Axis Bank RuPay Credit Card Details:
    1. Last 6 digits
    2. Expiry Date
  • OTP will be triggered to the customers registered mobile number
  • Enter OTP and Set PIN of your choice
