    Shopping with your Axis Bank Debit Card is now even safer!

    Purchase transactions made at retail outlets on your Axis Bank Debit Card, also know as Point of Sale (PoS) transactions, are usually validated by signing on the charge slip. However, from 1st July, 2013 onwards, you will need to additionally validate all such transactions by entering your Debit Card's ATM PIN thereby making your shopping experience much safer!

    Where & when do I enter my ATM PIN?

    You can enter your ATM PIN directly on the Card-Swipe terminals, also known as PoS terminals, that will be present at the sales counters of the retailers. You should enter your ATM PIN when the PoS terminal prompts for it, after you SWIPE your Debit Card at it (or DIP it, in the case of CHIP cards):

    Please note: Always enter your ATM PIN on your own. Do not reveal it to anybody else.

    Do I need to enter my ATM PIN for all purchase transactions?

    Although implementation of the PIN security feature will begin by 1st July, it is expected to happen in a phased manner. Therefore, you may be prompted to enter your ATM PIN only at some terminals.

    But on all the terminals where you are prompted for a PIN, it is mandatory for you to enter your ATM PIN. If you fail to do so, your transaction will be declined by the bank.

    How do I ensure that my ATM PIN is not misused?

    To avoid any misuse of your ATM PIN, please enter the PIN yourself on the POS terminal and do not reveal the same to the merchants or anyone else. Also, it is advisable to take a few necessary precautions while entering your PIN, as mentioned below:

    • Make sure that nobody (salesmen or other customers) is overlooking the POS terminal while you enter your PIN
    • Verify that there are no CCTV cameras directed towards the PIN-pad while you enter your PIN
    What If I enter the incorrect ATM PIN while completing the purchase transaction?

    If you enter an incorrect ATM PIN, your purchase transaction will be declined by the bank. Entering an incorrect ATM PIN in 3 successive attempts in a day (either at ATM or at POS) will temporarily block your card.

    If you have entered wrong ATM PIN before 9:30 pm on a particular day, your card will be automatically unblocked by 9:30 pm. If the wrong entry is made post 9:30 pm, your card will be unblocked at 9:30 pm the following day.

    What if I do not have an ATM PIN?

    If you do not have your ATM PIN or have forgotten it, you can easily get a duplicate one by calling on our Phone Banking numbers. Please follow the steps below to generate your INSTA ATM PIN

    What about international PoS transactions?

    The PIN feature is currently implemented only in a few countries outside India, like UK and Turkey. In all other countries, you may not be required to enter your ATM PIN for authenticating POS transactions, unless the POS terminal specifically prompts for entering a PIN for completing the transaction.

    Block Your Debit Card

    In scenarios where your Debit Card is lost/stolen or you suspect misuse of your Debit Card, you can immediately block your card by following any of these steps

    • Login to your Internet Banking account and select ‘Block Card’ option in the Debit Cards section
    Customize your Debit Card and make it more Secure
    • Modify Your Debit Card Limits
      Easily modify your Debit Card’s ATM and/or purchase limits and set the limits as and when desired by you. These limits can be modified at your fingertips through any Axis Bank ATM/Axis Bank Mobile App/ Internet Banking.
    • Switch On/Off Your Debit Card
      You can now set the limits of your Debit Card to zero (i.e. switch it off); this functionality helps protect your card from any misuse or fraud. By switching off your Debit Card, you can restrict ATM Withdrawals and purchase transactions (till desired) without blocking the card.
      When you switch on your Debit Card, you can set the limits again as per your preferences and your card will be activated for future transactions.
    • Activate/Deactivate International Usage on Your Debit Card
      You can easily modify the usage preference on your chip Debit Card (from domestic to international and vice-versa) through any Axis Bank ATM/Axis Bank Phone Banking/Internet Banking.
    • Replace/Upgrade Your Debit Card
      You can now save a visit to the branch for replacing your Debit Card. Simply login to your Internet Banking account/Axis Mobile App and apply for replacement of your Debit Card or upgrade yourself with the ‘Upgrade Debit Card’ option.

    mVisa is a card-to-merchant payment service provided as part of Axis Mobile app by registering the Visa Debit Cards for mVisa payment . Cardholders can make instant payment of bills or to merchants. Details of merchant will be in QR code available at the stores and/or printed on bills.

    Registration with mVisa

    Customer can register for mVisa on Axis Mobile app using few easy steps as mentioned below:

    • Click on Shop icon on Axis Bank Mobile App
    • Click on Pay with mVisa, scan the QR code and enter your mPIN
    • Select Visa Debit Cards and choose a favorite card which will be displayed by default during any payment with mVisa
    • Click on confirm and enter mPIN to complete the registration

      You will continue to earn Axis eDGE Reward points even on purchases made using Axis Bank QR Payment App

      You can use Bharat QR for payment at merchant outlets, for paying bills, etc
    • Is there any extra charge for payment through Bharat QR?
      No, there are no extra charges on using Bharat QR for payment.
    • How do I get a confirmation of payment?
      Once your transaction is completed, you will receive a confirmation on your mobile banking app screen.
    • How will I come to know if the transaction was declined while using Bharat QR?
      You will receive a notification stating that the transaction was declined, on your Axis Bank QR Payment App screen.
    • What will happen to my funds if the transaction was declined and the merchant has not received a confirmation for payment?
      The transaction amount will be deducted from your account on initiation of transaction. Once transaction has been declined/ cancelled, the same amount will be credited back to your account.
    • What should I do if amount has been debited from my account but the merchant has not received any notification for payment?
      You can call our customer care numbers to raise a request for crediting back the amount of the transaction.
    • What should I do if amount has been debited, merchant has received a payment confirmation, but I haven’t received a successful transaction confirmation on my app screen? If you have received a deemed acceptance response and merchant has received a successful payment notification, transaction is successfully processed.
    • How many Bharat QR transactions I can do in a day?
      There is no limit on the number of Bharat QR transactions you can do in a day.
