From ordering food to charting stars, there’s an app for everything today. In fact, you’re most likely reading this on a web browsing app of your choice. Statistics indicate that mobile app revenues around the globe are going to touch close to $200 billion by 2020. And yet, other research reveals that more than half the users that download an app, don’t use it even once a month.
So what exactly constitutes a well-designed app? Here are a few broad indicators to find out if your mobile banking app is user friendly or not:
Every app today needs to provide strong security measures to safeguard a user’s data and prevent unwanted physical access. Must have features include, login via PIN as well as biometric login using a fingerprint scanner. Axis Mobile App, the official mobile banking app from Axis Bank, comes with both options to authenticate user access along with Face ID login. Any of these options ensures that your mobile banking app and the connected account stays secure even in the unfortunate event of someone else getting their hands on your phone.
While a secure login functionality definitely helps keep your data safe, not all actions on an app require an added layer of security. In fact, a user-friendly app will let the user access the desired feature in fewer number of steps. The Axis Mobile app has many helpful examples of pre-login functionality. You can recharge a mobile number, use ‘Near Me’ the augmented reality feature, pay bills, look for properties and even apply for Axis bank products – all without logging into the app. This makes things intuitively simpler for everyone.
An app must be flexible to mould itself to a user’s preference, or adapt to its environment. Keeping in line with the principles of flexibility, the Axis Mobile app allows users to customise it in many ways
As ubiquitous as the internet is today, sometimes we do find ourselves in areas where there is no data connectivity. Axis bank has an app which is precisely meant for such situations. The Axis OK app gives you the freedom to use banking features even while you're offline! It lets you check your account balance, recharge your mobile number and do a lot more, without requiring internet connectivity.
Being able to perform a vast number of actions always makes the app more useful. For instance, a restaurant aggregator app is more useful if it also allows you to book a table, order food and take care of other actions in the same category. Similarly, a useful mobile banking app should allow you to pay your bills, avail loans, transfer money through multiple methods, initiate investments, manage your cards, and submit service requests under one umbrella. The Axis Mobile app lets users do all that and even more.
A modern smartphone is a treasure trove of tech and a well-designed app should be able to harness that to make your life easier. Axis AHA, the chatbot provides solutions to customer queries in fraction of seconds.
Everything from the camera to the various sensors provides opportunities for innovation. For example, the camera can be put to use to scan QR codes for multiple purposes. The Axis Mobile app uses its ‘Scan to Pay’ feature to scan Bharat QR or UPI QR codes to let users pay digitally without the need to carry credit or debit cards or logging into internet banking. iOS users can even use TouchID/Face ID for authentication, using the onboard biometric sensors to smoothen the login process.
Many apps are guilty of restricting services and accounts within their own walled garden. Supporting other bank accounts via UPI is Axis Mobile’s way of doing the exact opposite. It gives you the freedom to transact with non-Axis accounts as well. All you need to do is link your bank account to the UPI ID on the app. After that, you can go ahead and avail usual UPI services like Send Money, Request Money, Generate UPI QR Code and more, without ever needing to leave the Axis Mobile app itself. The separate Axis Pay UPI app also provides similar functionality.
