Axis Pay is an app with which you can send/receive money using any bank’s account, instantly using just a unique ID. It works on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) which allows users to transfer money instantly without knowing the sender’s or receiver’s bank details. The money can be transferred by simply using a unique ID.
A unique ID is an identifier which you create and link to any of your bank accounts to make secure payments. The unique ID can be yourname@axisbank or mobilenumber@axisbank etc which is easy to remember.
Yes. All unique IDs created in Axis Pay are suffixed with @axisbank
The ID is unique to an individual. If the ID preferred by you has already been taken by someone else, you will have to create an alternate unique ID, which is easy to remember.
UPI stands for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) which is platform provided by NPCI to facilitate interoperability among various banks. It’s a one stop solution for multiple bank account , one app. It allows all account holders to send and receive money using their smartphones with a single identifier – virtual payments address – without entering any bank account information. Therefore, customers do not need to know the payee's or payer’s IFSC code, bank account details, etc. and this makes the process simpler.
An unique ID which you create and link to any of your bank accounts to make secure payments. The unique ID can be yourname@axisbank or mobilenumber@axisbank etc which is easy to remember. VPA can be used instead of Account & IFSC to transfer funds. Each VPA is unique to the user.
A unique ID can be alphabetical, numeric or alphanumeric. It should be between 4-20 characters. It cannot contain any special characters (*,#,@ etc.) except dot(.) and hyphen(-) which are permissible. Your ID should be easy to remember such as yourname@axisbank or mobilenumber@axisbank.
When you add the receiver’s unique ID to send money, you can click on the “verify” button to get the complete name of the receiver as per his bank records.
Axis Pay can be used by both Axis Bank and other bank customers.
The Axis Pay app allows you to Send or Ask for money using unique IDs. You can link any bank account to the unique ID to send or receive money. Both Axis Bank and other Bank customers can also check their account balance on the app.
No. The same features are available to both Axis Bank and other bank customers.
No. Axis Pay is currently available only for Android smartphones.
Axis Pay is available free of charge. You can download and use this application as and when you need to without any charges levied by the Bank. Your mobile operator may levy charges for GPRS/SMS used. Please check with your operator for details.
The actual download time depends on the speed of data connectivity offered by your mobile operator or internet provider.
No. Axis Pay is user specific. It requires a 6 digit passcode to login to the app. For security reasons, you are requested not to share your Axis Pay Passcode with anyone.
  • Download the Axis Pay app from Google Play Store
  • Auto SMS is sent from your mobile phone to Axis Pay. In case your phone has a a dual SIM, select the preferred phone number registered with your bank.
  • Set a profile name and a unique 6 digit passcode for yourself
  • Select your preferred bank from the list
  • Create a unique Virtual Payment Address (VPA) for the selected account
  • Verify the selected account using your Debit Card credentials and OTP
  • Set MPIN for the account. Use this MPIN for sending money to other Virtual Addresses (VPA)
  • Yes, you will have to download the app & register your details again.
    The appearance of Axis Pay may differ slightly on different phones, however, its functions and operations will remain the same, irrespective of the mobile handset being used.
    In case you download and register on Axis Pay using a new device, Axis Pay installed on the old device automatically gets deactivated.
    • Download the Axis Pay app from Google Play Store
    • A SMS will be automatically sent from your mobile phone to Axis Pay. In case your phone has a dual SIM, select the phone number registered with your bank.
    • Set a profile name and a unique 6 digit passcode
    • Select your preferred bank from the list
    • Create a unique ID for the selected account
    • Verify the selected account using your Debit Card credentials and OTP. This is a one-time requirement.
    • Set PIN for the account. Use this PIN for sending money to other unique IDs

    This happens in the following scenarios:

    • the verification SMS has not been sent from the device
    • network error
    • device does not have a SIM.

    Please ensure that your phone has data connectivity. If the problem persists, please delete the application, download and try again.

    You can simply reconnect to Axis Pay and verify your transaction history to check if the transaction has been executed before initiating a fresh transaction.
    Yes, as long as you have GPRS activated on your mobile number, subject to availability of the network, you can access Axis Pay anywhere in the country. Please keep in mind that you might be charged special roaming rates for using GPRS.
    You will have to download the application again from the Google playstore and register.

    To add a contact,

    • Select 'Manage Contacts' in side menu
    • Enter unique ID of the contact
    • Enter the nickname of the contact to be added
    • Verify the details and Save

    To delete a contact,

    • Select 'Manage Contacts' in side menu
    • Long press on the contact to be deleted
    Yes, you can add any bank account in Axis Pay. The bank should be enabled on UPI.
    • Click on “+” sign in 'Manage accounts'
    • Select the bank name with which you hold the account. Your account number will be automatically fetched.
    • Verify your account by entering last 6 digits of Debit Card number and expiry (MMYY), entering the OTP and setting up an PIN
    • Any Axis Bank and non-Axis Bank account can be added in the app, basis the mobile number used to register on Axis Pay. i.e. mobile number used to register on Axis Pay has to be the same mobile number with which you are registered at your bank.
    • You can set the unique ID for all the accounts which gets fetched in the app.
    The maximum transaction limit for every fund transfer transaction in Axis Pay is Rs 1,00,000 (One lakh).
    No. You cannot send money without setting an PIN for a particular bank account.

    To delete an account,

    • Select 'Manage Accounts' in side menu
    • Long press on the account to be deleted
    • Select ‘Delete’ to delete the account
    The money will be debited instantly from your account.
    Yes, you can set the expiry time. You can set an expiry time from 1 day to 45 days, from the date of initiation of the transaction.
    You can see your past transactions under 'Transaction Status' available on the side menu of your app.
    You will find an option to raise query for a transaction under the ‘Transaction Status’ option available in the side menu. Once the query is addressed, you will receive the response in “Query closure comments” section of Query in the app.
    Yes, you can transfer money using account number and IFSC of the beneficiary, in case you do not have a unique ID of the beneficiary. However, sender /payer have to have a unique ID while sending money using Axis Pay.
    There is no limit to the number of accounts that can be added for receiving money.
    Axis Pay allows all transactions to be at least 2 Factor Authenticated, making it completely safe and secure. Apart from this all your financial transactions have a daily transaction limit.

    It’s a simple 3 step process to start using Axis Pay.

    • Download and Register on Axis Pay
    • Add any bank account and set a Unique ID
    • Verify your account and set a PIN

    After this, you are all set to send and receive money using Axis Pay.

    No, the other party i.e. a receiver or sender need not be on Axis Pay. The other party can use any Bank’s UPI enabled application.
    You can use Axis Pay for sending or receiving money between persons.
    Yes, you can receive money on your VPA without setting MPIN for the account linked to the VPA.
    You can reset your MPIN using “FORGOT MPIN” feature of the app. To do the same, go to menu , select “manage accounts”, click on the account, a detailed page will be shown with option of “FORGOT MPIN” and “CHANGE MPIN”.
    You can change the MPIN for your account using “CHANGE MPIN” feature of the app. To do the same, go to menu, select “manage accounts”, click on the account, a detailed page will be shown with option of “FORGOT MPIN” and “CHANGE MPIN”.
    6 digit passcode is the app level password which you need to login to the app.
    No, MPIN is set for each bank account that you link in Axis Pay. You would need MPIN to authorize any transaction.
    Passcode is app level password which you set at the time of registration to login to the app. For Axis account, you would have to set 6 digit MPIN. It need not be same as 6 digit passcode.
    All transactions on UPI are authenticated by 2 factor authentication. Debit transaction can only be initiated through your VPA on your device and It requires an MPIN to authenticate the transaction. Regulated by NPCI. User shares his VPA only instead of sensitive information like account, iFSC etc.
    There is no concept of loading in UPI. It’s direct account to account transfer using VPA. No txn charges on Axis Pay. Wallet usually charge anything between 1 to 4 % for reversal of money from wallet to account. In UPI, money resides within account itself, hence no scope of reversal as well as loading. Daily txn limit is 1 lakh . Higher than wallet. Interoperable across any UPI app. One wallet is not interoperable with any other. Sender and receiver party has to have same wallet to transfer funds. Through UPI, sender and receiving party can choose to have any UPI app available today.
    As the ecosystem of UPI progresses, it has the potential to replace cards as well as cash.
    Transaction on Axis Pay UPI app is free of charge.
    As part of Axis Bank's Initiative towards digitization, a default VPA has been created for all Mobile Banking customers of Axis Bank. You can edit/delete your pre-generated VPA by following the below mentioned process:
    • Select “Manage accounts” in the side menu
    • Do a long press on the existing linked account containing pre-generated VPA
    • Delete option would appear, click on delete
    • Now click on '+' sign and select Axis Bank
    • Account along with pre-generated VPA will be automatically fetched
    • Click on the "VPA field" and do a backspace to delete the existing pre-generated VPA and set a new VPA of your choice
    You can generate your customized QR code using the "My QR code" feature. Steps to generate QR code:
    • In side menu, click on"My QR code",
    • select your preferred unique ID (VPA) ,
    • enter amount (optional),
    • enter remarks (optional)
    • click on "GENERATE QR CODE".
    Your QR code gets generated. You can share this QR code to accept payments.
    You can scan any UPI QR codes using "Scan & Pay" option. Steps to scan QR code:
    • On home page, Click on "Scan & Pay",
    • Provide camera access to Axis Pay UPI app to scan any UPI QR code.
    • Scan any UPI QR code at merchant location
    • Make payments by entering your MPIN.
