What makes this card different from the other cards?

Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is India’s first prepaid transit card offering integrated single wallet that supports regular payments across retail outlets as well as contactless payments (Tap & Pay) across KMRL metro and private buses in Kochi. The card offers integrated services to the commuters by offering them cashless metro travel, bus travel and also offers shopping experience at merchant outlets, without the hassle of carrying multiple cards. This initiative is in support of the Ministry of Urban Development’s vision to address the need of Common Mobility Card.

Who is eligible to apply for the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card?

There is no eligibility criterion to apply for the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card. However, having an active mobile number is essential.

Where can I get the Card? How do I apply for it?

The Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card can be purchased at the KMRL issuance counters and select Axis Bank branches [Rajaji Road (Main Branch), Aluva, Kalamaserry, Edapally, Palarivattom, Kaloor, Banerjee Road, Ravipuram].

Can I own more than one card on my name?

You may only own one card on your name. There would be no need to own multiple cards since one Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card can be used for all your travel and purchase requirements.

What all information is printed on my Kochi1 card?

The following information is printed on your card:

What documents do I need to apply for a Kochi1 card?

The following documents are required to be submitted for purchasing a Kochi1 Card with an upgraded Full-KYC limit of INR 20,000 :

Passport size colour Photograph
Self-attested copy of PAN Card or Form 60
Self-attested any of the below given documents:

Passport
Driving License
Voters ID card
Job card by NREGA-ID

The documents will have to be sumitted along with completely filled Full-KYC application form at the following centres:

KMRL stations : Aluva, Cusat, Edapally, Kaloor, MG road, Maharaja's Ground, Ernakulam South, Kadavanthara, Vyttila, Thykodam
Axis Bank branches : Rajaji Road (Main Branch), Aluva, Kalamaserry, Edapally, Palarivattom, Kaloor, Banerjee Road, Ravipuram

Is it mandatory to register on the Online Portal? Can it be done offline if I don’t have access to the internet?

It is not necessary to register online since it is only one of the channels available to access any support feature. However, it is required in case you need to use any of the support features through the online portal. Balance Enquiry, Card top-up/reload, Card Blocking, etc. are the features currently enabled on the online portal.

How long will it take to receive the Card?

The Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is instantly issued to the customeron submission of the required details – name, mobile number, OVD (Driving License, Voter Card, Passport or Job card by NREGA-ID)

What are the fees and charges associated with this Card?

The Schedule of Charges for the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is as mentioned below -

Applicable service tax shall be charged extra along with prescribed fees. Fees are subject to change from time to time at the discretion of the Bank and Partner arrangement.

What is the validity of the card?

The Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is valid for 3 years, post which the card can be renewed at the KMRL issuance counters.

What do I do if my card is nearing its expiry date?

Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 card is valid until the last day of the month of the year indicated on the card. If your card is nearing its expiry date, then you can visit the KMRL issuance counter and get a new card (with new number). The balance amount on your card will be transferred to the new card in 5 working days.

Would the New Card have a new Card number or the same as the old Card?

The new Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card received by you after reissuance is valid until the last day of the month of the year indicated on the card. If your card is nearing its expiry date, then you can visit the KMRL issuance counter and get a new card (with a new number). The balance amount on your card will be transferred to the new card in 5 working days.

Will the KMRL pass have to be purchased separately?

No. If you want to buy a KMRL pass, the same will have to be loaded on the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card at any of the Issuance Counters and can be validated inside the KMRL metro with just a tap on the handheld terminal of the Metro conductor.

Will I have to buy the ID for the KMRL pass?

MHow can I renew the pass on my Kochi1 Card?

You can renew your pass at any of the following:

At KMRL Issuance counter: Pay cash to renew your pass
In KMRL metro: The pass can be renewed at the handheld terminal of the KMRL conductor, subject to required balance available on the card.

How can this Card be used inside the Metro?

This Kochi1 Card can be used to tap and pay for tickets, on the handheld terminal with the Metro conductor. Pass holders can just tap on the terminal to validate their pass.

Where can I use the Kochi1 Card other than KMRL metro?

The Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is the first card in the country that can be used for transit as well as for regular payments at merchant outlets. Does the card come with a PIN?

The card does not come with a pre-set PIN; however, you can set your PIN immediately after purchasing the card at the KMRL Issuance counter or dialling the customer care number 1800 419 4477 and following the instructions. You can load money on to the card and transact only after the PIN is set.

What do I need to do in case I have forgotten my PIN?

If you have forgotten your PIN, you may reset your PIN (after verification of details) at any of the following channel:

At KMRL Issuance counter: Dip the card in the electronic ticketing machine kept at the counter and self-select PIN.
Via phone banking: Dial the phone banking number 1800 419 4477 and follow instructions to set PIN

How do I load money on to the Card? Where can Card be reloaded/topped-up with money?

You can top-up or reload the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card through cash or debit card or credit card through any of the following channels:

- Hand over cash to the operator.
- Dip the card in the electronic ticketing machine. You will receive an SMS alert on your registered mobile number on successful loading.
- Kochi1 App: Easy recharge at your fingertips via debit/credit card, Net Banking or UPI using Kochi1 App
Online banking: Click here to register and login to reload your card through any debit or credit card.
SMS banking: Existing Axis Bank account holders can reload their Card through their primary account in Axis Bank. Kindly ensure the registered mobile number for your Axis Bank primary account and your Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card are the same. SMS TTOPUP to 5676782

Reloaded amount will instantly be updated in your account. Although, for it to work inside the metro, you will need to make any one of the following transactions:

Balance enquiry at KMRL issuance counter or inside KMRL metro.
Balance enquiry at any new Axis Bank merchant terminal.
Purchase transaction at any RuPay enabled merchant terminal or at the KMRL issuance counter.

Please Note: Rs. 12 will be charged for each reload.

Is the reload on the Card, chargeable? Are there any charges for loading the card online?

Yes. A nominal fee of Rs. 12 will be charged for each instance of reloading money on the Card through any of the top-up/reload channels, including online portal.

What is an Axis Bank merchant terminal?

Axis Bank will be deploying new terminals across certain merchants in the city. These new terminals will allow the merchant to reload your Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card. Once these terminals are made available, the same will be communicated and/or updated on the website here.

Why do I need to make a transaction at issuance counters/Axis Bank merchant terminals/ RuPay merchant after loading to use it in the metro?

Your Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card actually maintains its own balance in the chip in addition to the one maintained in our system. This is to allow quicker and more convenient use in transit. When your Card is used for tap and pay transactions, its balance reduces. When you do a top-up, you only need to ensure your card is updated of the same. The following are the options available to do so:

Purchase transaction at any RuPay enabled merchant terminal or at the KMRL issuance counter

What is the minimum amount to be loaded on the Card?

The minimum amount limit for topping-up or reloading the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card is Rs.100. Please note that Rs.12 will be charged for each reload made through any of the top-up/reload channels, so it is advisable to top-up/reload your card with sufficient balance.

What is the maximum amount that can be loaded on the Card?

The maximum balance on the Card is Rs.5,000 for minimum-KYC. For an increase in limit, from Rs.5,000 to Rs.20,000, full KYC documentation would be taken of the customer.

How many times can the Card be loaded/ reloaded with money?

There is no limit to the number of times the Card can be topped-up or reloaded. There is, however a maximum balance limit of Rs.5,000 which is extendable to Rs.20,000 on submission of full KYC documents.

What is the per transaction and the daily transaction limit for contactless payments?

The per transaction limit for making Contactless payments (tap & pay) is Rs. 2000. The daily limit is 20 contactless transactions. There is no limit to the number of times you can use the Card at merchant outlets.

What are the usage limits for my Kochi1 card?

There is no limit to the number of times the Card can be used, either in the KMRL metro or at merchant outlets. There is, however a maximum balance limit of Rs.5,000 which means you may only spend upto Rs.5,000 through the card in a month. The limit is extendable to Rs. 20,000 on submission of full KYC documents at the nearest Axis Bank Branch.

Can the Card be topped-up/reloaded only through cash?

The Card may be reloaded through cash or through any Debit or Credit Card. However, as per latest RBI regulations, there is a yearly limit of Rs. 50,000 for reloads made through cash. For cash reloads above Rs. 50,000, you will need to get your PAN validated with Axis Bank.

How can I check the balance on my card?

You can check the balance on your card in any of the following ways:

Dipping the card at KMRL issuance counter

Do I need to be an Axis Bank account holder to register on the online banking portal?

No it is not necessary to have an Axis Bank account to register on online banking portal for Kochi1 Card. Kochi1 Card has a separate portal that can be accessed by clicking here.

What if the Card gets lost or stolen?

If the Card is lost or stolen the customer can block their card through the phone banking, SMS banking or online banking channels. Thereafter, a replacement Card can be purchased at the KMRL issuance counter for a fee of Rs. 25.
Please Note:

Rs. 12 will be charged for each reload.

An active pass on the lost/stolen card is not re-issued. A new pass will have to be purchased.
All unutilized balances will be transferred to the replacement card within 5 working days, post deduction of replacement card charges. An SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number on successful transfer.

I came across a transaction on my card that was not attempted by me. How do I report this transaction?

In case of any discrepancy in the transaction history or statement of the Card, you may report the same to us through any of the following channels:

If the Card is lost or stolen you can block the Card through the phone banking, SMS banking or online banking channels. Thereafter, a replacement Card can be purchased at the KMRL issuance counter for a fee of Rs. 25.

Where can this Card be used?

The Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card can be used inside KMRL metro to purchase tickets and/or validate the Pass. This Card can also be used for regular retail purchases like any regular Debit/Credit Card across India.

Can this Card be used at all merchant outlets?

The Card can be used at any Rupay enabled merchant outlet in the country for a purchase transaction

Where can I find RuPay enabled merchants in my city?

Almost all terminals at merchant outlets that accept VISA and MASTERCARD, also accept RuPay cards for payments

Can this card be used to shop at merchants outside Kochi?

Yes, it can be used at any Rupay-enabled merchant outlets across the country. You will need to enter your PIN for these transactions

Can I use my card to withdraw cash from ATMs?

Cash withdrawals from ATMs are not permitted on the Axis Bank KMRL Kochi1 Card.

Can this card be used for E-commerce transactions? Why not?

Yes, Kochi1 Card can be used to E-commerce transactions.
